- Re-balance whole upgrade system
First releases of the game were badly balanced - upgrade costs were exorbitant and took gruesome grind to get. Making progress in the game should give payoff in terms of invested time. 3-4 minutes of play should give player some basic upgrades, and next tier upgrades should take slightly more time to get through.
In order to re-balance the shop prices, I had to play each map 10 times to figure out how much time/resources it takes from/gives to the player. As a side effect, I’ve also logged the mean snake length for each run. The result is (lo and behold) that:
- snake segments should mine significantly slower
- speed increment should be applied every 70 seconds or so (mean completion time for each map)
- all upgrade prices were completely revamped and now are within reasonable expectations!
I’m hoping that you’ll find this game more enjoyable as the result of these changes. Let me know if it feels better or worse in any case!
